Chairwoman of Transparency International Visits PKU

Peking University. Beijing. April 22nd, 2009: on the afternoon of April 20, Chairwoman of Transparency International Mrs. Labelle visited Peking University Anti-Corruption Institute and held seminar with Prof. Li Chengyan, Secretary of Party Committee of School of Government and director of the Anti-Corruption Institute, Peking University, and Prof. Xu Xianglin, Vice Dean of School of Government. The seminar was also participated by scholars from Tsinghua University and Renmin University.

 

 

 

Prof. Li introduced Mrs. Labelle the development and achievement of the Institute. According to Prof. Li, since its foundation 9 years ago, thanks to the abundant intellectual resources of the University, the Institute had organized and launched many activities and trainings concerning corruption and anti-corruption, integrity and supervision.

 

 

 

Mrs. Labelle thanked the Institute for the warm welcome and spoke highly of the academic achievement and influence on national policies. She also introduced the work of Transparency International in fields such as raising the global awareness of corruption and its harm, calling for governments to reform, promoting the signing up of international treaties, and so on in the past few years.

 

Scholars from Tsinghua University and Renmin University also introduced the development of the research on corruption in their universities respectively. The participants also held thorough and extensive discussions on the characteristics of anti-corruption in China, the improvement of anti-corruption system, and international cooperation on the promotion of anti-corruption and integrity.

 

Founded in 1993 and based in Berlin, Transparency International was a non-governmental, non-profit international civil organization addressing corruption.
