PKU Holds Ceremony on Tomb-Sweeping Day

Peking University, Beijing, April 7, 2009: Nearly a thousand students of Peking University joined the ceremony under the organizations of Communist Youth League on April 4th, traditionally known in China as Tomb-Sweeping Day. They presented flowers to the Monument of PKU revolutionary martyrs, the bronze statue of Mr. Li Dazhao, and Mr. Cai Yuanpei, stood in silent tribute at the monument of PKU revolutionary martyrs, and swore to contribute to the development of the nation.

The cemeteries were the start of the series of activities held by the PKU Communist Youth League to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the “May 4th Movement”. 1919 Chrysanthemums were presented to ancestors by the PKU students from the PKU Party Committee, PKU CYL Committee, PKU Students’ Union and the PKU Graduates’ Union, indicating the ongoing May 4th Spirit present in PKU.
