Ke Yang receives the Prince Mahidol Award

Peking University, Feb. 25, 2014: Ke Yang, executive vice president of Peking University, received the Prince Mahidol Award on Jan. 31, 2014, the day of Chinese Spring Festival.

 

 

Ke Yang, with other six medical experts from America, Canada, South Africa, Belgium and Philippine were awarded the 2014 Prince Mahidol Award of Thailand for their extraordinary contribution to the field of medical education on Jan. 31, 2014.

 

Ke Yang and her team were regarded to have played an important role in the reform research and policy consulting of Chinese medical education. Meanwhile, she is also the leader of the reform of Peking University of Health Science Center and a beloved professor to the students.

 

The Prince Mahidol Award was set up in memory of Prince Mahidol—the father of modern medicine and public health of Thailand—in the year of 1992, which is the 100th anniversary of his birth. It is the highest honor for the individuals and institutes all over the world in the field of medicine and public health.

 

The International Academic Conference of Prince Mahidol Award has become an authority of international medical education in the past ten years, and the 2014 conference, entitled “”, attracted about 550 scholars and experts from 60 countries.

 

During the conference, executive vice president Ke Yang gave a lecture on the medical education and reformation of China and Peking University. Apart from the general introduction, she specifically discussed the problems of Chinese medical education and proposed targeted suggestions. Her lecture effectively increased the understanding and consensus of other international experts on the situation of medical education of Peking University.

 

Besides, Ke Yang also attended a series of academic activities to conduct extensive communication and promote cooperation.
