The 3rd China Musical Creation & Industries High-end Forum held at Peking University

Peking University, Mar 12, 2014: The 3rd China Musical Creation & Industries High-end Forum was held at the Ethnic Music and Musical Research Centre, Peking University on March 7th. More than 30 guests from prestigious cultural corporations, art troupes and academies attended the forum and had a heated discussion over the development of the China Musical Base and the preparation for the 2nd Zhongguancun International Musical Festival.

 

This year, Zhongguancun International Musical Festival will be held on Zhongguancun Art Avenue, also known as Zhongguancun Main Street, in which some of the most acclaimedChinese musicals of high artistic value will be presented.

 

This is the third year of the China Musical Creation & Industries High-end Forum. Different from the former two whose focus was on the artistic creation of musicals, the forum this year put emphasis on the development of domestic musical industries, discussing the urgent problems and their solutions. The experts from the frontline of cultural and artistic industries also expressed their thoughtful advice on the form and content of the 2nd Zhongguancun International Musical Festival, eyeing for an improvement this year.

 

Background Info:

Established in February 2012, the Ethnic Music and Musical Research Centre of Peking University (http://musical.pku.edu.cn ) aims at the practice and theoretical studies of musicals, the education and research on musical industries, as well as the production and promotion of Chinese original musicals. As one of the most important musical research institute in China, the Centre has been working on the combination of Chinese traditional music and the western stage arts, in hope of creating more musical works featured in Chinese culture and the oriental fashion.
