North Pavilion dialogue:Focus on the Asia-Pacific Security Framework

Peking University, Oct. 25, 2015: The second annual meeting of North Pavilion dialogue is convened at Institute of International and Strategic Studies of Peking University. The topic of this year’s meeting is “Build the Asia-Pacific security architecture: global and regional perspective”. Experts and scholars also discuss international security situation and China’s influence on the international affairs.

Australia's former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Russia's former vice chairman of the Duma Vladimir Lukin, U.S. former ambassador to China J. Stapleton Roy, Japan's former foreign minister Seiji Maehara and  other international experts were invited to the meeting.

The meeting lasts for two days. The first part is an internal discussion, and the second part is an open forum for the public and the medium. During the internal discussion, participants closely discuss the current security situation in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world, and exchange their opinions on how China plays a more constructive role in international security and global governance, especially in the building of security architecture in Asia-Pacific region.

On the afternoon of October 19, U.S. former ambassador to China J. Stapleton Roy and other six experts talk about the threat to global security and possible responses to it, and the construction of Asia-Pacific security framework.

Institute of International and Strategic Studies of Peking University was formed in October 2013. Its predecessor is Center for International and Strategic Studies of Peking University. The Institute is committed to offering high-quality consultation services for China’s international strategy and foreign policy. It has established intimate cooperation with many think tanks all over the world.

Many domestic experts, including China’s former State Councilor Dai Bingguo, who is now the honorary president of Institute of International and Strategic Studies of Peking University, were also invited to the meeting.
