Professor John Strauss awarded “PAA Honoree”

Peking University, April 8, 2016: During the 2016 Population Association of America (PAA) Annual Meeting, PAA conferred the title of "PAA Honoree" on John Strauss, professor of Department of Economics at University of South California and Chair Professor in National School of Development at Peking University. This honor is a great acclaim for Professor Strauss's distinguished contribution on development economics and talent cultivation, as well as the public recognition of his academic influence.
 
Professor Strauss lectures on “Macro Development Analysis” for graduate students in National School of Development. He also joins the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) along with professor Zhao Yaohui.
 
With the combination of methodology and empirical research, professor Strauss focuses his study on economic development, domestic decision, human capital investment and labor market condition. His works mainly concerns child health, nutrition condition, food production and consumption. professor Strauss is interested in economic issues of developing countries. During his research of Indonesian life before the financial crisis, a great deal of data he collected became the foundation of empirical research. As a scholar of great discretion, he has made great contributions on econometrics. He published a series of influential papers concerning the identifiability of main econometrics model and solution of endogenous variables. Professor Strauss is awarded many honors due to his academic contribution. He is a member of Econometric Society, American Economic Association, and American Association of Agricultural Economics.
