Professor Xu Chenyang awarded 2016 Ramanujan Prize

Peking University, July 8, 2016: On June 22,2016, 2016 Ramanujan Prize was awarded to Professor XuChenyang of Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research (BICMR), Peking University.

Professor Xu Chenyang

The Ramanujan Prize, which is named after an Indian gifted mathematician Ramanujan, is awarded annually to a mathematician who is under 45 years old and has done outstanding work in a developing country. This year, through a stringent screening process, the committee decided to award the prize to Professor Xu Chenyang. The prize is in recognition of his outstanding contribution to algebraic geometry, especially birational geometry, and the development of algebraic geometry in China.
 
Xu Chenyang studied in school of mathematical sciences, Peking University from 1999 to 2004. After he earned his doctorate from Princeton University in 2008, he taught in many famous American colleges and universities. In 2012, he came back to Peking University and joined BICMR. His major research field is algebraic geometry, and he has published many articles in internationally famous mathematical publications.
