The award ceremony of Outstanding National Education Science Study Achievements held

Peking University, Dec.2, 2016: On December 1, the award ceremony of the fifth Outstanding of National Education Science Study Achievement aiming at contributing to the development and flourish of education and science was held in Beijing. The Minister of Education, Chen Baosheng attended the meeting,.
 
5 achievements of PKU Graduate School of Education gained the outstanding achievement award. Professor Jia Jiyou won the first prize, Professor Jiang Kai won the second prize, and Bao Wei and other scholars from Peking University were awarded the third prize.

As the first author, Professor JiaJiyou published his paper Effects of a Vocabulary Acquisition and Assessment System on Students' Performance in a Blended Learning Class for English Subject in 2012 on Computer and Education, an international magazine with a history of 40 years. The paper introduced CSIEC (Computer Simulation in Educational Communication), and was also referred to by another international magazine, Educational Research Review.
 
Winning the second prize, Professor Jiang Kai talked about the public influence of commercialization of knowledge on higher education in his paper. He pointed out that colleges and universities are essentially non-profit organizations whose focus should be put on offering public services instead of producing goods, offering commercial service or making profit. 
 
In Bao Wei’s dissertation, the author discussed challenges that China’s higher education is facing in the period of popularization. The paper explored the way to improve the quality of higher education from the perspective of students.
 
Likewise, the dissertation cooperated by Professor Zhan Lixin and Professor Chen Xuefei elaborate on people’s misunderstanding of higher education. They argued that higher education is independent rather than subordinate to other social activities. Besides, Professor Ma Liping and doctoral student Liu Yanlin probed into how to lower the risk of students working at the bottom of society.
