Cross-strait Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit held at PKU

Peking University, April 29, 2017: On April 25, Cross-strait Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Summit, co-organizedby Peking University and Taiwan University, was held at the Global Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at PKU. About 200 teachers, students and alumni from the two universities attended the summit, and more than 20,000 people watched the live webcast online.

As a theme event of “NTU Day” at PKU, the Summit gave a presentation of the current status and development trend of cross-strait innovation and entrepreneurship education, and discussed its ecosystem, curriculum design and teaching methods. Professor Chen Dongmin from PKU and Professor Zhan Kuiyuan from NTU respectively gave a lecture on “how to build a benign innovation ecosystem of entrepreneurship” and “the cross-domain innovative education of NTU”.
 
During the round-table discussion held by Professor Li Yilan, a senior expert in innovation and entrepreneurship education, Professor Chen and Zhan along with several other professors from PKU and NTU further discussed and analyzed the issues of undergraduate entrepreneurship and education with the attendees.

The Summit also invited outstanding student entrepreneurial teams for project introduction and communication. The teams included “FLUX”, “YuyiYober”, “City Ronin” from NTU, and “IR-Magic Box”, “Kala live show” and “ofo bike-sharing” from PKU. The projects covered various fields including 3D-printing services, environmental protection, health technology, education and social welfare, whichexemplify  the great educational achievements of innovation driving entrepreneurship and theory guiding practice.

The Summit promoted the two universities’ cooperation and communication regarding entrepreneurial talent cultivation. The PKU Institute of Industrial Technology would further enhance cooperation with NTU Entrepreneurship Center, D-School and School of Management in terms of courses, teaching staff, entrepreneurial teams, entrepreneurship contests and so on.
