PKU Holds Working Conference for Graduates’ Employment

Peking University, Beijing, Dec 18th, 2008: The Conference for Graduates’ Employment (2009) of Peking University was held on December 11, 2009. President Zhou Qifeng was invited to attend the meeting and delivered an important speech. About 150 people attended the conference, including Li Wensheng, deputy party secretary of the Department of Medicine, Man Huaxiang, minister of the PKU Office of students’ affairs, Han Liu, secretary of the Communist Youth League of PKU, party and government officials from all colleges of PKU, leaders and teachers from related functional departments, members of Working Groups for Graduates’ Employment and manager of affairs for graduates’ employment of the Medical Department. Zhang Yan, deputy party secretary of PKU hosted the conference.

 

A comprehensive summary of achievements and experience in the work for Graduates’ Employment of 2008, as well as goals and tasks of the work in 2009, were made in the conference. Meanwhile, advanced organizations and advanced individuals in the work for graduates’ employment of 2008 were recognized, some old comrades, teachers which had made great contribution in the work for graduates’ employment were awarded.

 

President Zhou stressed in his speech the importance to do a good job in the work of graduates’ employment on the basis of profound understanding of the new situation. He thought PKU had achieved positive results in the past year, and made a deep analysis of the situation of the work in 2009. He said that the current situation should be recognized in a rational way, both the seriousness and the positive factors, so as to strive for a steady improvement in the work for graduates’ employment next year, together with confidence. He pointed out that the “top managerial project” should be fully implemented, including "downwards in-depth guidance” and "upwards timely report", the political education for the graduates should be strengthened to realize the goal “to maintain stable and harmonious employment”, graduates should be guided and encouraged to grass-root-oriented, western-China-oriented employment, and supported to start their own business, and the policy "going out, inviting in" should be thoroughly implemented to strengthen links with the employees and thus actively broaden channels of employment.
