Peking University, March 18, 2018: In order to ensure campus security and to bring convenience to students, staff, and faculty, a collaboration between PKU Security Department and the Computer Center introduced the “PKU Visitor Reservation System” and the “PKU Vehicle Registration Certificate Application System”, which were put into operation on March 8 and March 13 respectively.

Linked with the authentication system of every school entrance, “PKU Visitor Reservation System” was developed to help registered visitors enter campus during special hours or events. Reservations can be made via the campus online portal so that the invited visitors can enter with certified information. Through the system, the security department can check the information of visitors, gather statistics, regulate opening times, set maximum reservations per day, and check the list of banned staff and visitors. By improving the early warning system and optimizing the information network, this reservation system helps maintain campus security and staff efficiency.

“PKU Vehicle Registration Certificate Application System” was developed to help the faculty to apply for vehicle registration certificates applied after 2018. After logging in to the system to fill in personal information and submit corresponding materials, their information will be examined by administrators who will notify them of the results via messages. Staff members with approbation can pay online (AliPay, Wechat Pay, or bank cards) to complete the application. Staff members with rejected applications can check the reasons and submit again.
Within 2 days, 1200 staff members have applied for registration certificates and 726 staff members have already completed the process. The application system is also connected with a personnel management database to prevent personnel who have been blacklisted or who have already resigned from applying for vehicle certificates.

Campus security is of great importance for students and faculty. To ensure it, the staff in the PKU Computer Center endeavored throughout winter vacation to develop the systems under pressing time limits. The PKU Computer Center and Security Department will continue to update these systems according to practical needs as tributes to the PKU 120th anniversary.
