Peking University Graduate School Wins Outstanding Organization Prize

Peking University, April 4, 2018: The opening ceremony of 2018 China Postgraduate Innovation & Practice Competitions was held at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Peking University’s  Graduate School won the Outstanding Organization Prize. Zhang Dongxiao, Dean of the College of Engineering, received the medal on behalf of the Graduate School. Du Zhanyuan, Vice Minister of Education , presented  the award.

During the opening ceremony, Du Zhanyuan gave an important speech on the education and development of graduate students. He pointed out that in the new era graduate education should develop talents and provide strategic support for the high-quality development and construction of an innovative country. 

Peking University has been heavily invested in the China Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Competitions. In 2016, Peking University hosted the third China Graduate Contest on Smart-city Technology and Creative Design, one of the major contests of the China Postgraduate Innovation & Practice Competitions. More than 500 teachers and students from 66 higher education institutions joined the final competition at Peking University divided among 168 teams. The competition strengthened the cooperation among government, enterprises and higher education institutions and enlarged the selection of themes based on new developments. Great progress was also made in the scale of the competition as well as in quality and quantity of the entries. The innovative talents fostered during the competition generated fresh ideas for the construction of smart-cities and the development of information industries.
