Professor Gao Jiahong elected chairman of the OHBM

Peking University, May 10, 2018: Professor Gao Jiahong was elected chairman of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM) on May 9, 2018. It is the first time for an Asian to serve as chairman since the startup of the organization.

The Organization for Human Brain Mapping is an international organization dedicated to advancing the understanding of the anatomical and functional organization of the human brain using neuroimaging. It brings together about 3000 extraordinary scientists of various backgrounds who are engaged in investigations relevant to human brain organization, and in other activities to facilitate communication among scientists and promote education in human brain organization. The organization provides educational forums for the exchange of up-to-minute and groundbreaking research across neuroimaging methods and applications.

Professor Gao was graduated from University of Science and Technology of China. He pursued his doctoral degree at Yale University, then spent 2 years as postdoctoral fellow at MIT. Since then, he had worked at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and then served as a professor and the director of the Center for MRI Research at The University of Chicago until 2013. Professor Gao is currently working at Peking University as the chair professor and the director of the Center for Brain Imaging Research, as well as a principal investigator at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research. Professor Gao has been working in the field for 30 years and published over 300 papers and abstracts with great importance.
