2018 China Urban Governance Innovation Forum held

Peking University, May 29, 2018: On May 18, 2018, China Urban Governance Innovation Forum and Chinese Urban Governance Innovation Award Conference were held in School of Government, Peking University. The theme of the forum is “Governing by law, by heart and by cooperation: challenges and opportunities of urban governance innovation in China”.

On the opening ceremony, Wang Bo, vice president of Peking University, gave a speech and pointed out that the urban development is a significant part of national development. He suggested that urban governance researchers should pay attention to the combination of history and reality from transcultural and transdisciplinary perspectives.

Yu Keping, dean of School of Government and head of PKU Institute of Urban Governance, welcomed conventioneers and summarized the work of the institute for the whole year. He said that based on PKU’s advantage as a comprehensive university and through cooperation with central and local governments, the institute was expected to become a high-end think tank for urban governance. Yu then announced the initiation of Chinese Urban Governance Innovation Award Project. To set up the award, together with building the system of Chinese urban governance modernization indexes, will accelerate the research for Chinese urban governance.


In the keynote speech session, several scholars addressed from different angles. About one hundred people attended the forum and discussed warmly on the theme.
