Professor Meng Jie elected as foreign academician of Academia Europaea

Peking University, October 11th, 2018: The Academia Europaea, also known as the Academy of Europe, announces the results of the 2018 academician election. Professor Meng Jie from the School of Physics of Peking University is elected as a foreign academician.

The Academia Europaea is co-sponsored by the Royal Society of Europe and other national scientific organizations. Founded in 1988, the Academy has 20 sections, covering exact sciences, life sciences, humanities, and social and related sciences. Actively engaged in interdisciplinary and cross-regional research, it is one of the most influential scientific organizations in the world. As far, more than 20 Chinese scholars have been invited to accept membership of the Academy.


Professor Meng Jie has outstanding contributions in various fields, including nucleus structure, halo phenomenon, pseudospin, and covariant density functional theory. With more than 400 papers published and more than 10,000 times cited, the distinguished scientist has reached an h-index of 53 and has won a number of national and international academic awards.
