Peking University holds 2018 ACM-ICPC Asia Beijing Regional Contest

Peking University, Nov. 13, 2018: From November 10 to 11, the 43rd ACM-ICPC Asia Beijing Regional Contest was held in Peking University Gymnasium. 193 varsities from 136 Asian colleges, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, the University of Hong Kong, and Kim Chaek University of Technology, competed for the admission to the final contest that will be held in Porto, Portugal next year.


ACM-ICPC Asia Beijing Regional Contest

On the afternoon of November 10, the opening ceremony of the regional contest was officially announced. Huang Ru, dean of School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science in Peking University, welcomed all the participants and guests. In her speech, Professor Huang introduced the history of School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science in PKU and highly praised the positive influence brought by ACM-ICPC. Then, Jinshong Hwang, director of AMC-ICPC Asia Regional Contest, thanked Peking University for the all-around support it provided. He sincerely wished that every participant could learn more in this contest and make constant progress in their future careers.

At 9 o’clock on the next day’s morning, the Asia Beijing Regional Contest started. After 5 hours’ competition, “Champion dls did not run” from Tsinghua University won the championship. “KUT_Team” from Kim Chaek University of Technology and “Reconquista” from Zhejiang University finished second and third respectively.


During the Contest

On the afternoon of November 11, Professor Lu Junlin from School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science hosted the closing ceremony. Liu Jianbo, vice provost of PKU, delivered a speech in which he congratulated the winning teams and thanked the sponsors, colleges, media, staff, and volunteers for their help. The contest was successfully concluded.
