DEC . 05 2018
Peking University, December 2, 2018: From November 22nd to 24th,  the 4th Scientific Forum of LMU-China Academic Network was held in Peking University. Ye Jingyi, vice chairman of Peking University Council, and Hans van Ess, vice president of LMU (Ludwig Maximilians Universität München) attended the opening ceremony of the forum on 22nd. During the forum, about 150 experts, scholars, and researchers exchanged their latest research results in the fields of life sciences, environment, and earth sciences, as well as economics, languages and social sciences.

The forum of LMU-China Academic Network is held once a year, organized by German and Chinese member schools in turn. This year is the first time for Peking University to host the forum. Hans van Ess said: “Peking University is one of the best and most famous universities in China. We are honored to have the scientific forum held here. Chinese universities are important partners of LMU, and we will have closer cooperation in the future.”

In a wide range of academic discussions, the forum highlighted two key areas of discussion. On the one hand, as one of the special advantages of LMU, life sciences closely link LMU with its Chinese partners. On the other hand, knowledge transfer between disciplines is hotly debated. Although the experts are highly specialized, they are beginning to break the boundaries of the discipline and seek cross-disciplinary cooperation.
