Qiu Shuiping visits Yunnan Province

Peking University, December 20, 2018: From December 16 to 17, Qiu Shuiping, chairman of Peking University Council, led a delegation to Yunnan Province to deepen province-university cooperation and to promote poverty alleviation. 

On the afternoon of December 16 in Kunming, Qiu conferred with Ruan Chengfa, governor of Yunnan Province, about enhancing the strategic partnership between PKU and Yunnan Province. During the session, representatives from both sides exchanged opinions on further bilateral cooperation in fields of poverty alleviation, cadre training, talent exchange, health care, and etc.

On the morning of December 17, Qiu communicated with Chen Jian, secretary of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, about deepening collaboration and rendering targeted assistance to Midu County. 

In the afternoon, the delegation conducted a symposium of poverty alleviation program and a field research in Midu County. During the symposium, Midu government personnel introduced the present condition of the program. Qiu recognized the prominent progress made by Midu people under the guidance of the Party and local government, and promised that PKU would strive with them together to overcome poverty. Besides, some PKU organizations made generous donations

During the field research, experts from PKU Health Science Center gave medical assistance to Midu County through seminars, and offered professional guidance to local hospitals.
