Peking University, Dec. 26, 2018: In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the School of Chinese Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, the PKU-HKU Forum on Traditional Chinese Medicine was held on November 24 at Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, HKU. The forum attracted over 200 scholars and graduate students in the field of TCM. Professor Li Pingping and Professor Han Shuyan of Beijing Cancer Hospital attended the forum and gave talks there.
Professor Li’s talk centered around the principles and mechanisms of TCM in cancer treatment, and emphasized the importance of combining TCM with standard treatment. Professor Han spoke about tumor immune microenvironment and how it could be adjusted by TCM. In particular, Professor Han referred to Professor Li’s work where she proceeded from her study on ancient prescriptions and developed a new one that was said to be able to modify the immune microenvironment in lung cancer.
The forum was first of its kind cohosted by PKU and HKU. It was considered to be a milestone in the collaboration between these two universities in the field of TCM.
