Acupuncture guru awarded for lifetime achievement

Peking University, Jun. 18, 2014: The 2014 International Conference, coordinated by the Society for Acupuncture Research (SAR) of the US and the China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (CAAM) was held in Beijing from May 30 to June 1 under the theme of “Impact of Acupuncture Research on 21st Century Global Heathcare”.

 

SAR’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” went to Peking University (PKU) Professor Han Jisheng, member of the China’s Academy of Sciences. Professor Hammerschlag, who co-initiated the society in 1993, praised highly of Han’s scientific studies on acupuncture pain as original, influential. Hammerschlag also emphasized the irreplaceable role Han had played in the communication of the West and the East.

Han Jisheng then gave a report named “studies on acupuncture are main part of my life”, introducing his achievements in the past 50 years at the PKU Neuroscience Research Institute.

 

More than 200 representatives from all over the world attended the Conference.
