Peking University and the University of Hong Kong launch dual bachelor’s degree program in Law
Feb 27, 2019
Peking University, Feb. 21, 2019: A dual bachelor’s degree program in Law has been launched, after a cooperation agreement was officially signed by HKU President Zhang Xiang and PKU President Hao Ping on February 20.

Drawing upon the research strength and teaching excellence of the Law Schools at both Peking University and the University of Hong Kong, this program will allow students to gain insights into the legal systems of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, so that these students, who might work in the legal sector in the future, can provide tailored, accurate and professional legal advice based on the social and political background. Moreover, this five-year dual bachelor’s degree program will enroll students globally, and it is estimated that more than 10 students will be admitted in the academic year spanning from 2019 to 2020. According to the cooperation agreement, students will study at each university for 2.5 years and receive degree certificates from both universities respectively.

Over years, Law Schools of both Peking University and the University of Hong Kong have maintained a close partnership, and the bilateral collaboration can trace back to as early as 2010 when both sides rolled out a dual master’s degree program in Law. However, this is the first collaboration on bachelor’s degree program and it’s also the first between Peking University and a Hong Kong-based higher institution.
