The opera Song of Youth is adapted from Yang Mo’s novel of the same name. With the historical background of the Mukden Incident and the December 9th Movement, it tells the story of Lin Daojing, a young female student unwilling to live a stable and mediocre domestic life. Influenced by the Communists and progressive students such as Lu Jiachuan, she accepts revolutionary ideas and plunges herself into the anti-Japanese patriotic torrent. With the theme of “youth, patriotism, and choice”, the opera calls on young people to strive for their ideals and proffers them great inspiration to combine personal destiny with the rise and decline of the nation.

PKU has held diverse commemorative activities recently, such as the seminar, art exhibition, the running activity, the release of documentaries, and other patriotic education activities in memory of the May Fourth Movement.
