What’s hidden behind glory and reputation are always toil and sweat. Since Zhang’s matriculation in PKU, he has learned a lot from his mentors and grasped every chance to perform upon the bigger stage to improve his capability.

The 2019 NEUE STIMMEN was not the only international competition that he has won in recent years. In 2016, he won the first prize of the 4th International Voice Competition “Le Grand Prix de l’Opéra”. The next year, he was nominated the 2017 top ten male singers by the International Opera Awards and stood out in the first place of the China division of the 55th Concorso Internazionale Voci Verdiane Città di Busseto. This year, due to his excellent performance, he was awarded 6 prizes at the 10th International Stanislaw Moniuszko Vocal Competition. Later, he triumphed over his rivals at the 2nd International Music Competition Harbin.

Indeed, flowers and applauses, sweats and tears are intertwined in his path to success. The knowledge acquired on campus, coupled with his training at international stages, is Zhang’s lifelong companion and treasure.
