Peking University joins the Silk Road Think Tank Association

Peking University, Dec. 31, 2019: The 5th Silk Road Think Tank Association Conference (SRTA), hosted by International Department, Central Committee of CPC (IDCPC), was held in Beijing on December 26. Peking University Council Chair Qiu Shuiping was invited to be a co-chair of SRTA. More than 150 representatives from the association were present.

Song Tao, minister of the IDCPC, made a brief introduction about major achievements the SRTA has made since its establishment in 2015. Song urged members of the association to constantly carry out research and produce forward-thinking reports, thus motivating countries along the Belt and Road to join hands with China in building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Qiu Shuiping said Peking University will work with other member institutions of SRTA, providing intellectual support to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Qiu added that PKU will also join hands with IDCPC in global communications, allowing the concepts of BRI can be understood and supported by international think tanks.

SRTA, set up in 2015 by IDCPC, represents the world’s largest platform for BRI think tank cooperation. The association, which enjoys close collaborations with many colleges and think tanks, aims to pool worldwide efforts for research on the development of the Belt and Road Initiative. By far, members of SRTA include 138 institutions in China and over 120 in the rest of the world.
