Peking University-Cairo University Chinese Culture Spring Camp commences

Peking University, April 5, 2021: On April 2, the Peking University-Cairo University Chinese Culture Spring Camp, which is jointly organized by the School of Foreign Languages at Peking University and the Confucius Institute at Cairo University, opened online and offline. The Chinese Culture Spring Camp is in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt.


At the opening ceremony 

As part of the “20 + 20 cooperation program between Chinese and African universities”, the Chinese Culture Spring Camp is a joint effort of the School of Foreign Languages at Peking University and Cairo University to explore new ways to promote language learning, language cooperation and cultural exchanges between Chinese and Egyptian students. The partnership between the two institutions injects new vitality into cooperation and enhances mutual learning between the two civilizations.

Experts and scholars from Peking University and other institutions will give eight lectures on Chinese culture for students at Cairo University. These lectures will cover China-Egypt relations, Chinese history, Chinese language, Chinese literature, Chinese art, China’s legal system and China’s reform and opening-up, which would be undoubtedly enriching for the students from Cairo University.

After the opening ceremony, Wu Sike, former Chinese ambassador to Egypt, delivered the first lecture titled “Two Ancient Civilizations Join Hands in the New Era: 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Egypt”. Professor Fu Zhiming, deputy dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Peking University, also shared China’s ancient culture with students at Cairo University using the Arabic language.
