Uzbekistan's First Deputy Minister Komiljon Karimov visits Peking University

Peking University, February 1, 2024: Komiljon Karimov, Uzbekistan's first deputy minister of higher education, science, and innovation, recently visited Peking University (PKU). The minister and his delegation were received by PKU Council Chair Hao Ping at Linhuxuan.

Fang Fang, vice council chair and vice president of PKU, along with Zhang Jiping, director of the Sino-Russian Mathematics Center at Peking University, attended the meeting.

Hao Ping meets with Komiljon Karimov

Hao Ping extended a warm welcome to Karimov while pointing out Uzbekistan's historical significance along the Silk Road and its role in facilitating  cultural exchanges between East and West. 

Emphasizing the crucial nature of collaboration, Hao highlighted the strong foundation across faculties, spanning economics, humanities, mathematics, and engineering. He expressed Peking University's dedication to advancing higher education exchanges through strengthened cooperation, envisioning new levels of collaboration.

Karimov expressed gratitude for the warm reception and provided an overview of Uzbekistan's recent achievements in higher education. Demonstrating a strong commitment to expanding bilateral exchanges in education, science, and innovation, Karimov articulated his aspiration to deepen academic cooperation with Peking University and other esteemed Chinese universities. 

In his speech, Karimov also envisioned diverse forms of substantive cooperation projects aimed at mutual progress between institutions in Uzbekistan and China.

Also in attendance were Adviser to the Minister of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nazokat Abdukunduzova, Rector of Urgench State University Bakhrov Abdullaev, Vice Rector of Urgench State University Gayrat Urazboev, and representatives from Peking University's various departments.

The event marks an important step in fostering collaborative initiatives between Uzbekistan and China, laying the groundwork for future academic partnerships.
