Exchange students at Peking University get to know each other during orientation

Peking University, February 29, 2024: The Opening Talk and Orientation Ceremony for International Exchange Students was hosted by the International Students Division of the Office of International Relations at Peking University recently. Coinciding with the start of the spring semester, the event welcomed 200 students from more than 40 esteemed international institutions across five continents.

Prof. Zhao Yang, from the School of Chinese as a Second Language, delivered the "Opening Talk," providing students with a comprehensive understanding of Peking University's rich history and cultural heritage. The lecture also highlighted the institution's academic traditions and cultural essence, fostering a deeper appreciation for Peking University's mission and vision.

The Orientation Ceremony introduced students to campus life through various activities, including ice-breaking games and dialogues. Notably, the "Who is a Peking University Student" game elicited laughter and helped students familiarize themselves with the campus culture.

Representatives from student clubs and associations also shared information about their organizations, offering exchange students opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities aligned with their interests.

The Q&A session provided guidance on academic and daily life matters, helping exchange students make a seamless transition to Peking University's academic environment. During the session, senior students shared their experiences and practical advice, helping incoming students navigate campus life successfully.

The Opening Talk and Orientation Ceremony for international exchange students in the spring semester of 2024 not only served as an opportunity for sharing knowledge but also marked the beginning of friendships. As students engage in exchanges and acquire knowledge at the University, they will contribute to the mutual understanding and cooperation between Chinese and other cultures while forging their memories at Peking University.
