PKU teams dominate International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals

Peking University, April 22, 2024: Two teams from Peking University (PKU) dominated the 46th and 47th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals, which were jointly held from April 14 to 19, 2024, in Luxor, Egypt.

Peking University fielded two teams for the programming competitions. Making School history, the team comprised of Wang Zhanpeng and Jiang Lingyu from the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science and Luo Yuxiang from the School of Mathematical Sciences secured top place in the 46th ICPC World Finals.

Meanwhile, the team consisting of Qian Yi, Peng Bo, and Feng Shiyuan, from the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, claimed second place in the 47th ICPC World Finals.

The long-awaited 46th ICPC World Finals were postponed until this April due to the pandemic, merging with the 47th edition to create spectacular and fierce dual ICPC World Finals. The contest attracted over 840 contestants from more than 170 universities across 50 countries and regions.

The ICPC stands as the world's oldest, largest, and most esteemed programming competition for college students. Teams of three, representing their respective universities, collaborate to solve real-world problems, showcasing their creativity, innovation, and ability to perform under pressure and push the boundaries of what is achievable, according to the organizer.
