“The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2008” Released

Peking University. Beijing, March 3, 2009: On February 26th, the Information Office of the State Council published a report titled, “The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2008”, as a response to “The Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for 2008” released on the 25th. The latter of the two is full of accusations of the human rights situation in more than 190 countries and regions including China.

 

The year 2009 is the 10th year in succession for the Information Office to publish the Human Rights Record of the United States. Their Mission of Statement is “to help people around the world understand the real situation of human rights in the United States, and as a reminder for the United States to reflect upon its own issues.”

 

The Record is written in 14,000 words, including 6 parts, which are regarding: life and personal security, civil and political rights, economic, social and cultural rights, racial discrimination, the rights of women and children, and human rights violation in other nations.
