President Marc Tessier-Lavigne from Stanford University visits Peking University

Peking University, September 17, 2018: On the morning of September 7, accompanied by a delegation, the president of Stanford University Marc Tessier-Lavigne visited Peking University.  The delegation includes the dean of Medical School Lloyd Minor, the dean of Business School Jonathan Levin, the dean of Engineering School Jennifer Widom, the vice dean of Law School Robert Daines, etc. Peking University Council Chairman Hao Ping met with the guests at Lakeside Pavilion.

Hao Ping first expressed his welcome to Marc Tessier-Lavigne’s visit. Mr. Marc Tessier-Lavigne appreciated the warm reception of PKU. For a long time, the two top universities have enduring friendship and deep cooperation. In the meeting, they introduced research fields separately and expected to establish more communication and cooperation.

Marc Tessier-Lavigne hoped that his visit can deepen the bilateral comprehension and cooperation, broaden discussion issues and solve problems collaboratively. Hao Ping hoped that PKU and Stanford can keep friendship and cooperation in the future, and PKU expected more young researchers from Stanford to join PKU.

President Lin Jianhua met with Marc Tessier-Lavigne at Stanford Center, PKU. Lin also welcomed Mr. Marc Tessier-Lavigne’s visit. He pointed out that PKU and Stanford has positive blueprint on future cooperation in many research fields. Marc Tessier-Lavigne agreed with his opinion and hoped to intensify understanding and communication between two universities.

After the meeting, Marc Tessier-Lavigne visited School of Life Sciences. Scholars from counterpart departments held seminars separately and realized some agreements in the fields of medicine, law and management.
