Australian Ambassador to China visits PKU

Peking University, December 7, 2018: On the morning of December 6,  Australian Ambassador to China (ACC), Jan Adams visited Peking University along with Warwick Smith, president of Australia-China Council, accompanied by Kevin Hobgood-Brown, president of Foundation for Australian Studies in China. The conference in celebration of the 40th-anniversary of ACC was held in the afternoon. Qiu Shuiping, chairman of Peking University Council, other school leaders and faculty representatives met with the guests and conducted academic exchanges.

Qiu Shuiping first welcomed the foreign guests, then said that Peking University have developed cooperative relationships with many Australian universities. The BHP Chair Professor of Australian Studies Program is a good platform for bilateral cooperation. Qiu also expressed his gratitude to ACC for his effort to promoting mutual learning and understanding.


Jan Adams agreed and said that mutual contacts and exchanges between China and Australia have becoming more frequent; he was looking forward to more substantial cooperation in the future.

Warwick Smith expressed his gratitude and expected deeper communication and wider collaboration between universities in China and Australia. He made a speech at the conference and shared his opinions with other guests.
