President of Peking University visits the University of Hong Kong

Peking University, Dec. 8, 2018: On the afternoon of December 5, President of Peking University Hao Ping, Vice Chairman of Peking University Council Liu Yucun and Vice President of Peking University Wang Bo led a delegation to visit the University of Hong Kong (HKU). HKU President Zhang Xiang, HKU Vice President W. John Kao, Associate Vice-President Wong Yee Sin received the PKU delegation at the Principal’s residence.

HKU President Zhang Xiang welcomed the delegation. He reviewed previous communication and cooperation between PKU and HKU, emphasizing the shared history of the two universities. Facing the new era, he looks forward to a more comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in the fields of discipline development, scientific research, talent cultivation, think tank construction and medical health.

PKU President Hao Ping points out that there is a solid foundation of friendship and cooperation between PKU and HKU. He hopes that the two schools can carry on this tradition and further cooperation in the future, focusing on the cooperation at Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the studies on the “Belt and Road Initiative,” the development of basic sciences and cutting-edge interdisciplinary studies, and the joint training of students. PKU and HKU should go hand in hand to play an active role in the country's development and offer a new model of cooperation between universities of Beijing and Hong Kong.
