Delegates from Lomonosov Moscow State University visit PKU

Peking University, April 22, 2019: Four delegates from the Department of Mechanics and Mathematics, Lomonosov Moscow State University visited Peking University on April 15. PKU Vice President Tian Gang greeted the delegates at Linhuxuan, together with Fan Huijun, director from School of of Mathematical Sciences, Li Zhi, professor from School of Engineering, Zheng Ruqing, vice director of Office of International Relations.

Tian extended warm welcome to the delegation and noted that PKU and MSU had always been close partners. At the end of March, 2019, delegates from PKU had the honor of attending the “Society, Human and Future” International Symposium held at MSU and further strengthened ties between two universities. The visit from the MSU this time will reinforce collaboration in the field of Mathematical science.

After the meeting, delegates from MSU attended a panel discussion at School of Mathematical Sciences at PKU.

At the panel discussion

Dean of School of Mathematical Sciences Chen Dayue, Secretary of the School’s Party Committee Hu Jun, Vice Dean Shi Yuguang, Vice Dean Fan Huijun and other faculty members attended the panel discussion. During the discussion, Chen shared with the delegates the history, academic research, teaching of Mathematical sciences at PKU as well as future goals and challenges. Alexander Ivanov, deputy head of the Department of Mathematical Mechanics, MSU also gave an overview of their department. Two sides exchanged ideas on the construction of PKU China-Russia joint Mathematics laboratory as well as intentions on collaborative teaching, collaboration on research into geometry, mathematical physics, algebra and geometric topology. Both sides also decided to hold China-Russia Joint Mathematics Conference annually, and hoped that the two universities will join hands in more fields, including carrying joint projects on postgraduate education and postdoctoral research.
