Professor Huang Yiping attends 2019 Spring Meetings of WBG and IMF

Peking University, April 19, 2019: Huang Yiping, Jin Guang chair professor of Economics, deputy dean of the National School of Development, and director of the Institute of Digital Finance at Peking University, attended the Spring Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C. on April 11, 2019.


At the meeting

Huang attended the seminar of “Key Global Trends and Implications for the Fund’s Policy Advice” as a panelist along with Jon Cunliffe, deputy governor of the Bank of England, Siv Jensen, minister of Finance of Norway, Oksana Markarova, minister of Finance of Ukraine, and Ahmed Shide, minister of Finance of Ethiopia. Christine Lagarde, managing director of the IMF, served as the seminar moderator.


Huang Yiping

The panel aimed to explore how the IMF can provide better policy advice for the members as well as how to bring the members together to ensure the robust and resilient global growth in the dynamic international economic environment. Huang discussed the rapid rise of financial technology and its effect on financial stability and monetary policy. He advised the IMF to objectively evaluate the division of labor between government and market in developing countries.
