Moon Hee-Sang visits Peking University

Peking University, May 13, 2019: Moon Hee-Sang, speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, visited Peking University on May 7. Qiu Shuiping, chair of Peking University Council, met with Moon Hee-Sang in Linhuxuan.

On behalf of Peking University, Qiu Shuiping extended warm welcome to Moon Hee Sang and his delegation. Qiu briefly reviewed Peking University’s cooperation with Korean universities and enterprises in recent years. Also, he introduced the establishment and development of the Department of Korean Language at PKU, expressing the willingness to promote higher education communications between China and Korea, as well as to deepen the cooperation in education, scientific research and culture.

Moon Hee-Sang appreciated PKU for the warm welcome. He spoke highly of PKU and set high expectation for the youth of the two countries. Moon Hee-Sang expressed the hope that both sides would enhance communication and mutual trust, working together for the peace of Asia.

After the meeting, Moon Hee-Sang delivered a speech to PKU teachers and students. He talked about how Korea and China play positive roles in promoting the peace of Northeast Asia. The audience were deeply thrilled with the speech and interacted actively with Moon Hee-Sang.

Through this visit, PKU has built a more solid relationship with Korean government. With the improving communication in diverse fields, both sides are expected to benefit more from deeper bilateral cooperation.
