Peking University, May 10, 2019: At the invitation of King Abdulaziz Public Library, the student delegation of the Arabic Department, led by Fu Zhiming, deputy dean of PKU School of Foreign Languages, participated in the third China-Saudi Arabia youth academic dialogue program from April 28 to May 3, in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.
At the program’s opening ceremony, Dr. Abdul Karim Bin Abdulrahman Al-Zaid, the deputy general supervisor of the library, expressed his welcome to the delegation. Professor Fu Zhiming spoke highly of the program’s contribution to promoting communication between Chinese and Saudi Arabia youth.

After the opening ceremony, two sub-forums were respectively held in King Abdulaziz Public Library and in King Saud University. During the second sub-forum of the theme “Sino-Saudi youth communication enhancement”, the PKU delegation presented to the audience several student exchange programs organized by the Arabic Department in Peking University, which greatly intrigued the Saudi students. Following the presentation, a heated exchange of opinions was shared among the young students of Chinese or Saudi backgrounds, through which both knew each other more and deeper at the conclusion of the sub-forum.

Besides the forums, PKU delegation also visited the College of Language and Translation at King Saud University and the headquarter of MiSK Foundation (Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Foundation), whose purpose was to encourage young people to make innovative tries in the fields of science, culture, business, etc. Based on the mutual need for young talents in China and Saudi Arabia, Peking University and outstanding Saudi universities, such as King Saud University, should form a closer cooperating relationship in the field of advanced education.
