Peking University holds a symposium on mutual learning among Asian civilizations and China

Peking University, May 22, 2019: Amid the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations being held from May 15 to May 22, Institute of Area Studies of Peking University held an academic exchange event with the theme of "Mutual Learning among Asian Civilizations and China” on May 17. This academic exchange event was joined by experts and scholars from all over Asia such as Pakistan, Laos, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan and Thailand. A lively discussion was conducted based on their knowledge on how the Chinese civilization was constructed as well as the mechanisms of exchanges among different civilizations.

One of the experts Ralph Kader, CEO of the International Federation for Peace and Sustainable Development (IFPSD), emphasized that the Chinese civilization is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. During his 58 years working with the United Nations, he has admired the efforts put in by many of his Chinese colleagues to spread Chinese culture and the history of Chinese civilization to the rest of the world.
The Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations demonstrated China's respect for cultural diversity and its quest to advance mutual learning between various countries. During the event, experts and scholars also interacted with visiting guests and students of Peking University, gaining knowledge about the long history and cultural heritage of Peking University.
Following the event, the participants were accompanied by the staff in their visit around the campus to further deepen their understanding and knowledge of Peking University.
Through the interactive and dynamic discussion among scholars and experts from various Asian countries, this event has fostered mutual learning towards the construction and development of civilization among various Asian countries.
