University of Cambridge Sir Mark Welland visits Peking University HSBC Business School

Peking University, Sept. 17, 2019: Sir Mark Welland, deputy vice-chancellor at the University of Cambridge, and Professor Christoph Loch, director of Cambridge Judge Business School, visited Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) on September 4. PHBS Dean Hai Wen warmly received the guests and later hosted a meeting with the Cambridge delegation on future cooperation.


At the meeting

During the discussion, Hai Wen elaborated on the history and current development of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Peking University HSBC Business School, and PHBS UK campus. He also expressed the wish of HSBC to deepen the cooperation with the University of Cambridge in the field of business education. Sir Mark Welland said that the University of Cambridge had been paying great attention to overseas cooperative programs and its cooperation with Peking University is highly valued in strategic planning.

Chen Rugui, mayor of Shenzhen, met Sir Mark Welland and Professor Christoph Loch on the same day. Mayor Chen showed strong support for the academic cooperation between the University of Cambridge and Peking University in Shenzhen and hoped to further promote this collaboration in higher education, science and technology innovation, and cultural exchange. Sir Mark Welland also appreciated Shenzhen’s friendly environment for science and technology innovation and business management. He expected that in the near future the joint programs would soon be realized in Shenzhen.

Later, Sir Mark Welland and Professor Christoph Loch Qianhai were guided to visit the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone (also known as Qianhai New District). Du Peng, director of Qianhai Administration Bureau, introduced to the Cambridge delegation the blueprint of Qianhai concerning the future development of industry and higher education in this zone, which deeply interested Sir Mark Welland.
