2004 Turing Award winner Robert E. Kahn visits Peking University

Peking University, October 14, 2019: On the morning of October 10, the 2004 Turing Award winner Robert E. Kahn visited Peking University on invitation. PKU President Hao Ping and Assistant President Zhang Pingwen met with Dr. Kahn and his wife Patrice Ann Lyons at Lin Hu Xuan.

On behalf of Peking University, Hao Ping expressed his warm welcome to Dr. Kahn’s visit. Peking University attaches great importance to the teaching and scientific research of information science, artificial intelligence, and the Internet. Recently, the PKU Academy for Artificial Intelligence has been established to promote the integrative development of information science, big data, and social science. Hao Ping was glad that Dr. Kahn joined the PKU international teaching staff, expecting that both sides could enhance the cooperation in innovative research and talent cultivation.

Dr. Kahn said he was very happy to come to Peking University again and looked forward to deepening interdisciplinary and diversified cooperation through this meeting. He also mentioned that research and innovation capacity was the key factor to measure the comprehensive strength of world-class universities and was essential to promote social progress.

During this visit, Dr. Kahn would cooperate with Peking University Library and PKU School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science in big data and the Internet to investigate the new mode of resource service.
