Peking University President Hao Ping visits South Korea

Peking University, Oct. 21, 2019: On October 11 and 12, 2019, PKU President Hao Ping was invited to visit SK Group and Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (KFAS) in South Korea, where he also paid a visit to Korea University and Ewha Womans University.

In a meeting with Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, Hao Ping expressed his gratitude to SK Group for its strong support to Peking University in decades. The two sides discussed new possibility of all-round cooperation in the fields of energy, artificial intelligence, and biomedicine.

During a meeting with Park In-kook, president of KFAS, Hao Ping communicated the preparations for the Beijing Forum (2019) Annual Meeting with the Korean side. Hao Ping expressed his appreciation to KFAS for its contribution in promoting harmonious dialogues and academic exchanges in the world. In response, Park In-kook envisaged that KFAS would work with Peking University to enhance academic and educational exchanges between China and South Korea.

After the talk, Hao Ping, representing Peking University, PKU Vice President Wang Bo, on behalf of Peking University Education Foundation, and Park In-kook, on behalf of KFAS, signed Beijing Forum (2019) Cooperation Agreement.

During his stay in South Korea, Hao Ping also met with Jin Taek Chung, new president of Korea University. The two sides agreed that they would foster the partnership between the two universities, strengthen cooperation between their own leading disciplines, promote exchanges between teachers and students, and contribute to the improvement of higher education and academic exchanges between China and South Korea.
