Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Khaled El-Enany visits Peking University

Peking University, Dec. 3, 2019: On November 28, Dr. Khaled El-Enany, minister of Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt, visited Peking University and delivered a speech.

Hao Ping, president of Peking University, met the guests at Linhuxuan. He expressed his congratulations to Dr. Khaled El-Enany for the significant archaeological achievements of Egypt in recent years as well as his gratitude to the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities for its support to Peking University’s upcoming archeological excavation project at the Nile Delta area. The visit of Dr. Khaled El-Enany will accelerate the implementation of this project and promote bilateral research collaboration in ancient civilizations.

At the meeting, Hao Ping said that Peking University boasts the leading archeological discipline in China, which has achieved many important excavations about ancient Chinese civilization. He hoped that Peking University and the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities can step up cooperation in joint projects, student exchanges, and academic visits in the future. Besides, he also welcomed Egyptian archeologists to engage in various research projects led by Peking University.

Dr. Khaled El-Enany thanked Peking University for its efforts to boost cultural exchanges between China and Egypt. He believed that the archaeological cooperation between China and Egypt will surely yield prospective changes in this field. The upcoming archaeological project is just a good start for this promising bilateral cooperation.

After the meeting, Dr. Khaled El-Enany went to the School of Archaeology and Museology, and delivered a speech with the theme of “Egyptian Archaeology and Current Projects”. He introduced the significant work of the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities on archaeological discoveries, cultural relics protection, scientific research, recovery of lost cultural relics overseas and more.

After the speech, Dr. Khaled El-Enany visited the special exhibition “Fusion of Colors – Special Exhibition on the Civilization of the Silk Road” at the Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and Archaeology.
