Professor Vyacheslav Molodin visits Peking University and gives lectures on archeology

Peking University, Dec. 16, 2019: From Nov. 26 to Dec. 9, Vyacheslav Molodin, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), deputy director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography (IAET) of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS) and professor at Novosibirsk State University (NSU), paid a visit to Peking University’s Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences. Professor Vyacheslav Molodin has been researching Siberia for years and made significant contributions to archaeological studies on Siberia, especially by excavation and study of the Pazyryk Culture.

During his visit, Professor Molodin gave three lectures, which are entitled “Archaeological Findings of SB RAS on the Bronze and Iron Ages”, “Western Siberia in the Bronze Age: Trends and Regularities in Regional Research”, and “Pazyryk Culture in the Altai Mountains” respectively. He introduced features of the excavated cultures of the Bronze Age in Western Siberia and made introductions to the findings of the Pazyryk Culture, which is one of the most marvelous cultures in the early Iron Age.

The lectures were well-received by faculty members and students in relevant fields. Professor Lin Meicun from the School of Archaeology and Museology at Peking University emphasized the significance of Professor Molodin and his team’s findings to archaeological research on the Neolithic Age and Bronze Age in Northwest China. Professor Wei Jian from Renmin University of China also called for attention to the importance of a comprehensive study of Siberian archaeological resources to strengthen research on the Neolithic Age in northern China.
