Professor Liang Yingming Publishes Latest Works on Overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia

Peking University, Beijing, December 1, 2008: The latest masterpiece of Professor Liang Yingming, Research on Overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia---a New Perspective in the New Century, was recently published by the Hong Kong Social Sciences Press.

 

As the second anthology of Professor Liang, Research on Overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia, which comes after Integration and Development, mainly consists of 14 research papers on overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia written over the past six years. Each paper covering topics such as economic development, political participation, integration into the mainstream society, education of Chinese language and critics on the discipline construction and academic status of studies on overseas Chinese in the mainland China.

 

The book also includes 8 research papers and reviews on Southeast Asia studies, mainly covering the major role and achievements the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has played and made in recent years, as well as several topic researches on contemporary national history.

 

Professor Liang is an Indonesian Chinese. As Vice Director of Center of Overseas Chinese Studies in PKU and a member of the Asia-Pacific Research Institute of PKU, he has devoted himself to the research and teachings of the politics, economics, society, history in ASEAN and problems of overseas Chinese in that area.
