Tablle tennis Olympic medalist Ding Ning becomes a new member of PKU

Peking University, September 9, 2021: On September 6, Chinese table tennis athlete Ding Ning announced her retirement from her sports career and shared the news that she will be headed off to Peking University to pursue a master's degree in physical education. In her Weibo post, Ding wrote, “Today marks my first day as a grad student at Peking University! From now onwards, I’m no longer ‘Ding Ning, the athlete’ but ‘Ding Ning, the student’”.

The three-time table tennis Olympic gold medalist thanked the Chinese table tennis team, her coaches, family and fans before setting off on her journey to PKU as a student. Ding Ning stated that she will continue to embrace the spirit of hard work and persistence and strive to do her part to contribute in a different way to the sports sector. As the old Chinese proverb goes, “Across the boundless sea of learning, there is a boat made from hard work”.
