[Lecture] Axon Regeneration and Functional Rewiring After Injuries of Central Nervous System
Jul. 22, 2024

Speaker: Kai Liu, PhD (BS '98), Cheng Professorship in Science

Division of Life Science, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)

Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m., July 22, 2024, GMT+8

Venue: Room B101, Lui Che Woo Building, PKU

Abstract:

Dr. Liu received a bachelor's degree from the School of Life
Sciences at Peking University in 1998 and then earned a doctoral degree from Rutgers University of the U.S. in 2006. He later obtained his postdoctoral training at the Children's Hospital of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Liu joined the Division of Life Science at HKUST in 2011 and was named as Cheng Professorship in Science in 2023. For over a decade, his research has elucidated the central mechanisms that intrinsically designate axonal regeneration upon various injuries of the central nervous system, revealing novel entry points for therapeutic applications.
