[Lecture] Molecular Mechanisms of BRCA1/2 Mediated Genome Maintenance
Oct. 22, 2024

Speaker: Weixing Zhao, PhD (BS '02), Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology, Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute, University of Texas Health Science

Time: 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., Oct 22, 2024, GMT+8

Venue: Lui Che Woo Building, Rm. B106, PKU

Abstract: Dr. Zhao earned his B.S. and Ph.D. from Peking University in 2002 and 2007, respectively. He then had the postdoctoral training at Yale University School of Medicine. In 2019, Dr. Zhao joined the University of Texas Health Science Center to establish his own research group in the Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology and the Greehey Children's Cancer Research Institute.
For the past decade, Dr. Zhao's research focus has been on exploring the BRCA1/2 tumor suppressor networks in various biological processes and uncovering the molecular mechanisms responsible for their pathogenic mutations associated with cancer and other diseases, with the ultimate goal of laying the groundwork for developing new diagnostic or therapeutic strategies against various human diseases.
