Abstract:
The European economy is struggling to achieve higher potential growth, innovate, and increase the standard of living of its citizens. Focusing on the EU/Eurozone, the lecture will provide a comprehensive understanding of the underlying long-term trends, the policy responses since the pandemic shock, recent developments, and the outlook. A key part of this understanding will be discussing the growth composition and fragmentation by country, sectoral trends, trade developments, inflation, and fiscal and monetary policy outlook. Finally, it will mention the reform process at the national and European levels.
