Abstract:
Geometric group theory is a relatively new research field devoted to the study of the geometry of finitely generated groups and became a clearly identifiable branch of mathematics in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It closely interacts with many related fields such as low-dimensional topology, hyperbolic geometry, combinatorial group theory, random walks on groups, and Riemannian geometry.  The goal of this conference is to bring together people from the various branches of the field to discuss recent developments in this area, and offer an opportunity for all the participants to make intensive exchanges of ideas.
