Abstract: The old linear narrative of world history where various parts of the world started different but ended up the same is no longer feasible in 21st century. Writing world archaeology today requires balancing similarities and differences, as more evidence suggests that disparate cultural trajectories had coexisted simultaneously. Peking University and University of Oxford are combining expertise to once again put into perspective comparison and contrast between different parts of the world, starting with this conference in Beijing in December 2025, followed by another workshop in the UK in the following year.
