Peking University, December 2, 2024: On November 4, Andrei Karol, Rector of Belarusian State University, and Alesia Prakharenka, Vice-Rector of Belarusian State University visited Peking University. They were welcomed by PKU Council Chairman Hao Ping and President Gong Qihuang. Both institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and attended the unveiling ceremony for the China-Belarus Center for Fundamental Scientific Research.  

Hao highlighted the two universities’ achievements in fostering educational cooperation and cultural exchanges, such as the China-Belarus High-Level University Presidents Forum and student art troupe exchanges. He emphasized the importance of deepening their strategic partnership to contribute to the development of the China-Belarus bilateral relations.

Gong then praised the collaborative efforts of both universities in the areas of talent development, exchanges and research. He noted the Center’s role in providing a structured and high-efficiency platform for research developments, thereby enhancing academic cooperation in fundamental sciences. 

Thereafter, Karol expressed gratitude for Peking University’s hospitality and recognized the partnership between the institutions. He looked forward to tap on the Center for future collaborations in teaching and research, and to foster the development of fundamental sciences.

This was followed by the signing of the MoU between Peking University and Belarusian State University.

The unveiling ceremony for the Center took place at Zhibeizi Garden. PKU Vice President Fang Fang highlighted the Center’s potential to strengthen talent development, host international academic events, and enhance scientific collaboration. Gong and Karol then unveiled the Center’s plaque, marking a new chapter in the China-Belarus academic and scientific partnership.
